Overview

In this session, we will engage in a "TPACK" experience to guide your growing capacity targeted at planning, implementing, and assessing of digital learning activities.

Learning Outcomes

After this session, participants will be able to:
  • Understand and apply the importance of the TPACK lens as a guide to the best intersections of curricular standards, sound pedagogy choices, and technology selections;
  • Reflect and articulate the value and challenges of effective learning experiences supported by TPACK;

The technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK) framework can help administrators, teachers, and staff to:

    • Engage in self-assessment of their own TPACK;
    • Use common language when evaluating and selecting technology to explicitly support and enhance student learning;
    • Impose a thoughtful lens when observing technology-infused learning activities.

II. TPACK Table Game | A Way to Understand the Model

THREE.jpg
Here is an overview TPACK Game
At your table, there are three cups, each representing TPACK: T- Technology, P - Pedagogy, C - Content.

Make the Game Customized
  • Add you own SPECIFIC technologies (e.g., an LMS, specific technology and resources, etc.) that you have at your district or school to the appropriate labeled containers using the markers and blank slips of paper available on your table.

  • Add pedagogical approaches adopted by your district or school (Marzano, TQM. etc) to the appropriate labeled containers using the markers and blank slips of paper available on your table.

  • Content is decided by the Common Core and Essential Standards.

Round ONE
  • In the first round, each table will draw from 2 containers and brainstorm ways to fill in the third, missing item that would be an EFFECTIVE approach to support student learning. ALWAYS start with "C" cup! Repeat this round as many times as you can in the time allowed.

Round TWO
  • In a second round, participants draw from all 3 containers and brainstorm a lesson with all 3 TPACK components. Repeat this round as many times as you can in the time allowed.

Remember, if something doesn't fit, toss it out.
